Darfur

Saverino Benelli believes there can be more to Second Life than pose balls and unbridled capitalism. Mr. Benelli has donated land and has created a group to present a concert to help the west Sudanese country of Darfur. For several years now, that country has been in throes of revolution and government retaliation. Amnesty International has been involved with a variety of programs (www.amnesty.org) Mr. Benelli’s group is setting up a Second Life account for the benefit; the funds in the account, when translated to actual cash, will be sent to Amnesty International.
Mr Benelli's group seeks musicians willing to play for this benefit concert. This is music played from the heart not for money. All donations from attendees will be donated to Amnesty International. Persons wishing to set up vending for the purpose of being sponsors of this event are also invited to help. Vending outlets will be expected to forgo profit.
Sponsorship fees will used to offset the expenses of the group’s project with vendors forming a cooperative to make decisions in regard to promotional and other financial outlays. Scripters are needed to help ensure the funds can be tracked and transparent to anyone. Current scripts only track payments and final balances. Finally, the group seeks anyone else willing to help make this event successful, including online radio stations willing to simulcast. For now, there are a few organizers, a few radios, and a few musicians on board.
Severino Benelli is the main organizer on Second Life.
